Tolkien Trewsday: Year Three
With Week 105 Tolkien Trewsday reached its third year. To reflect this the “Story so far…” (calendar) and “Introducing Tolkien Trewsday” posters have had a refresh (see below), though still with the Trees of Valinor as a focal point. This page will become the hub for keeping you informed about what is coming up for Tolkien Trewsday.
The refreshed logo has two versions. The version above and this version below. You'll see both on advertising and elsewhere.
Tolkien Trewsday is a positive-action community event on social media centred around a weekly theme chosen via a steerage group and also from community suggestions.
A handy help sheet is provided below to explain all you need to know about Tolkien Trewsday and this is posted each week on a starter thread, usually just before midnight UK going from Monday into Tuesday. Entries are not restricted to just Tuesday, participants can add content with the hashtag #TolkienTrewsday whenever convenient to them.
π Alt text for the helpsheet:
Trewsday is the Hobbit name for Tuesday! Tolkien Trewsday is a community event across several online spaces: Twitter, BlueSky and now the Tolkien Society Facebook group.
Each week we form a fellowship to collectively post about a pre-selected theme about Tolkien (his works and his life) as well as adaptions, academic writing and creative stuff such as fanfic, fanart and cosplay.
Themes are selected by myself (the organiser) and also via polls or guest hosts/curators. Together we will build a collective outpouring of creativity, knowledge and love for J.R.R. Tolkien.
The inspiration for this comes from the highly successful #FolkloreThursday which engaged lovers of Folklore, academics, artists and more to share their love of folklore.
We only ask that if you are joining in, please do so with courtesy and kindness in your posts/tweets. This is a positive-action community event, open to all and supportive of fan diversity. Intolerance, racism, bigotry have no place here. Thank you!
A new year means a new design! In 2025 the Two Trees remain symbolic but now Telperion (Silver Tree) has a sword trunk and Laurelin (Gold Tree) has a staff trunk.
