The Tolkien license infographic
In an update to the 3 August 2021 blog post explaining the Tolkien license, I created1 an infographic to help show the complexity surrounding the rights to material based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The map is also available on the "Licensing" page for the Tolkien Gateway here. Note the timeline on the top of right is extremely brief, just showing certain changes of license between United Artists, Saul Zaentz and Embracer. The more complicated Hobbit rights are not shown here.

1 Originally created on 19 August 2022, I've recently updated it to reflect the change in US book publishers from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to William Morrow.
