This April the Rangers of the North Smial takes over #TolkienTrewsday! Smials are locally-organised groups of Tolkien Society members meeting in person and online. You don’t have to be a member to take part. The Rangers of the North Smial meet in Liverpool, Manchester and Preston.
You read more about Tolkien Trewsday here. I've created a series of posters for this event:

The Rangers are holding several moots (meets) in April with an online chat via Zoom and their monthly in-person moot is being held in Liverpool this month. The in-person moots rotate between Liverpool, Manchester and Preston currently though special trips have been organised in the past to visit special events such as the Magic in Middle-earth exhibition in Southport (2025) and to see J.R.R. Tolkien’s revolver in the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester (2023).
You can see a list of what is coming up below.

This all leads to the final weekend of April 2026 where the Tolkien Society is hosting their annual AGM and Springmoot in Manchester (24-26 April 2026). Please note booking for the evening meal closes soon and you have to be a member of the Tolkien Society to attend the AGM.
You can find out more about that event on the Tolkien Society event page located here.
This blog post is also over on Substack, located here.
