Ranatuor's Lore - "The Professor!" annual toast to J.R.R. Tolkien aka Ronald Dwale

He's wandered all over Middle-earth...

Each year Ranatuor hosts the Tolkien Toast to "The Professor!" Below is the invite that goes out to various places (Laurelin Archives, the official LOTRO forums, the Elders kinship, LOTRO ingame "World Chat", etc).

---------------------------------------

[LAURELIN, EVENT, social] “The Professor!” – annual toast to JRR Tolkien aka Ronald Dwale, Wednesday 3rd January 2018, 8pm GMT(15.00 /servertime)

You are cordially invited to celebrate the Twelfthty Sixth (126th) anniversary of Professor JRR Tolkien’s birthday at the Bird and Baby Inn, Michel Delving, the Shire for a toast on the hour of 8PM GMT (15:00/servertime) on Wednesday 3rd January 2018. We’ll do the toast at 8pm GMT, so please arrive a little before, if possible!
We’ll raise a glass or mug to the Professor and then set off some fireworks in true Shire style. The wandering wizard Gandalf may not be available to attend!
Fireworks, pipeweed and drinks can be provided! All enquiries to Ranatuor (the Elders Kinship). This is a social event, RP and non-RP, Kin and non-Kin, everyone is invited.

We are following the Tolkien Society guidelines on this toast, details are here.

We had a fantastic turnout in 2017 especially with it being the year of LOTRO’s 10th Anniversary and we had an extra special guest, SSG Community Manager Cordovan, who streamed the event live via the LOTRO Twitch feed! You can see some of that broadcast here.

    Tolkien Drinking Song
"Ho! Ho! Ho! To the bottle I go
To heal my heart and drown my woe.
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
And many miles be still to go
But under a tall tree I will lie,
And let the clouds go sailing by."

-- Fellowship of the Ring, chapter 4: A Short Cut to Mushrooms

LOTRO, SSG and the Tolkien Easter eggs
