Scholars of the Undertowers - Gazetteer of Tolkien on the World Wide Web

Gazetteer of Tolkien on the World Wide Web

Gandalf in the Archives of Minas Tirith” by Matthew Stewart (2014)

Updated: 19/02/23

There is a veritable treasure trove of information about Tolkien accessible by the Internet. Unlike Smaug, I’ll be sharing these below. I aim to keeping adding to the resource, so keep checking back when you can.

I hope to add links to fan art and other creative work soon.

Please let me know if you find any dead links or places you would like to suggest for inclusion here. You can contact me on my Twitter account (or in the comments below).

Please note: The legitimacy of locations that influenced Tolkien is a hotly debated topic. Not all places listed here may have official recognition but are now part of cultural tourism and destination branding, so some "notorious" ones are included here. Websites (fully or partially) with these locations are indicated with a  symbol after their link.
