Late July updates: Imaldris and Ninimiel’s gossip

 

Apologies, I’ve fallen a little behind on posts, so this one will cover both news updates from Imaldris (Tolkien-related news) and also Ninimiel’s gossip (LOTRO-related news). I’ll keep it short and concise, for ease of viewing.

BBC Radio Humberside on Edith Tolkien in East Yorkshire
BBC Radio Humberside interviewed Phil Mathison (author of “Tolkien in East Yorkshire 1917 – 1918: An Illustrated Tour”) about the unveiling of a Blue Plaque on Withernsea’s Lifeboat Café – Edith Tolkien lived in Withernsea during 1917 whilst Tolkien was stationed at nearby Thirtle Bridge.

“Comrades of the Ring” by Joel Merriner
Lecturer and PHD Research Joel Merriner, who gave a wonderful talk about Soviet Tolkien covers at the recent Tolkien Society Seminar, has published an article about writers and artists of Soviet Tolkien in Foreign Policy. There have been several new product announcements and also a new interview/chat with Free League.

Ares Games - Fate of Erebor

Whilst we wait on the next big announcement, Ares Games have snuck in a smaller release – a What If the Free Peoples lost the Battle of Erebor scenario. Note this will be part of the revised “The Battle of Five Armies” set, but if you already own that then a separate release is due in September 2021. More information:

Fantasy Flight Games – Spreading War

Free League - THE ONE RING™ Roleplaying Game Fellowship Forum (July 2021)

Free League ran a “Fellowship Forum” where members of the team chatted and took questions from the online audience. They are hoping to run more of these in the future. Details:
