31 December 2020 - Hogmanay the Pig’s Big Night In: A Yule moot

31 December 2020 - Hogmanay the Pig’s Big Night In: A Yule moot

Bring in the New Year in Middle-earth, a social gathering event for the Free Peoples of Laurelin, hosted by Ranatuor and Hogmanay the Pig!

Event details

The year draws to a close. The midnight hour is near. Middle-earth has witnessed many many things this last year, for good and for ill. But now we stand at a crossroads, the past behind us and the future in front, ours to take. As a wise man once said, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Let us bring in the New Year with celebration! Let us remember those we have left behind but be joyous for those still with us, standing by our side.

Hogmanay the Pig, with his amazing cart of fireworks, will be joining your host Ranatuor at a special venue in the Thorin’s Hall Homesteads. It’s a big night in for 2020, a fellowship of fun and a Yule moot (meeting) for anyone and everyone.

All are welcome*

There we will set off fireworks, fly kites, drink good ale, sing and dance. Music will be played. There will be some gift-giving. We will party like there is no tomorrow!

* Obviously, be polite and courteous to your fellow party goers. We want to maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Really this shouldn’t need to be said, but you just never know.

OCC Details

A social gathering for New Year’s Eve, organised by Ranatuor. Musicians, bands and storytellers are welcome to take the stage to delight the gathered party goers. This is a social gathering, RP is of course welcome but not required.

Just what is Hogmanay? Well, I’ve been a bit cheeky and named the Anniversary Pig pet (with a wagon of fireworks firing away in his wake) Hogmanay, a nod to the Scottish New Year celebrations. More information can be found here: https://www.visitscotland.com/see-do/events/christmas-winter-festivals/hogmanay/

It’s a Big Night In because, well this year New Year is going to run a little differently, we are all in. Over the last few years myself and other players have made an effort so that those not out and about celebrating have a place in LOTRO to party with new and old friends.

Location

A specially decorated venue has been acquired inside the Thorin’s Halls Homesteads. Location to be revealed on the day.

Times

When the clock strikes midnight in any timezone in the world, I’ll be there to see the New Year in. The first place is Kiritimati (Christmas Island) at 10am UK, 05.00 /servertime. The last location is the USA Hawaii at 10am UK (05.00 /servertime).

What will we do?

This will be a RP-lite event, you can RP if you want to, but please note there will be others attending who won’t be RPing at all.

Fireworks will be set off! Supplies available.
Drinks and food will be consumed.
Dancing & Singing.
Music – all musicians and storytellers are welcome to perform.
